The best way you can get a high performance electric bike is by converting your own bicycle with an electric conversion kit. Converting your bicycle with a kit gives you the advantage of getting the best battery available, customising motor power and the ability to use a bicycle that you already own and is ideally suited to you. We believe we are the best suppliers of kits in Australia and are proud to be able to offer a complete kit with the latest in lithium ion battery technology at a price affordable for many people.
We can provide you with the best prices and quality components because we are a non-profit research and development business that deals directly with the manufacturer. We have tested many motors and batteries and have visited the best factories and trade shows in China to set up good negotiations. We will always be improving our components with the golden aim to have these kits working on hydrogen made from algae and fuel cells to generate the electricity. We also promise to do our best to provide you with any replacement parts you could possibly need while we are active in business. Any collaborations or ideas are always welcome!
These kits can be easily assembled onto nearly any bike. Motors come seated in rims and are available in sizes of 200W, 350W and 500W. Please note that 200W is the legal limit in Australia, these bikes do not require registration or insurance and are legally considered to be just bicycles. Engine sizes above 200W should only be used for off road purposes. These kits really develop a lot of power so it is best that you use a bike with strong steel forks! Carbon forks shouldn't be used as this may result in the fork tip snapping. Light weight alloy forks are not ideal with high motor power as the steel wheel axle can wear away the softer metal of an alloy fork and result in the fork tip snapping off or the wheel rolling out after time. If you are not sure then please ask us to include a torque bar - it's a small piece of metal that we have made up here that is made of hardened steel, it wraps around the wheel axle and is hose-clamped to one of the forks. This will stop the axle wearing away at your fork.
Rim sizes are available in 26" or 700c. 700c is effectively the same size as 28". The kits cannot be used if your bike has disc brakes unless you remove them and assemble normal pad brakes. Please ensure that you select the appropriate rim size. Search and you will see the size written on the side of your own tyre; generally mountain bikes have 26" rims and road bikes or hybrid bikes have 700c rims. These kits really do have lots of power and will propel you along unassisted at between 25 - 40 km/hr depending on motor size, bike type, body size and battery type. We have searched long and hard to bring you what we believe is the best electric conversion kit in Australia. Our LiFePO4 batteries are the latest on the market and cannot be beaten on price, power to weight ratio, safety and times it can be recharged. We highly recommend getting a kit with a LiFePO4 battery rather than acquiring one that uses the older sealed lead acid option. The battery is arguably the most important component of the kit. You will save lots of money in the long term as they last about 5 times as long, they are about a third of the weight and they are much better for the environment! There is a 3 month warranty on all kits and parts for any manufacturing default. Please see the FAQ page for additional information on these kits.
Our standard kits are designed for the front wheel, though we have rear wheel kits available upon request. We prefer the power distribution to come from both wheels and prefer to use the gearing systems that come with the original bike. Rear wheel kits are a little more difficult to install and because of the motor diameter it is hard to use a sprocket with multiple cogs and you'll likely have to get a single speed sprocket. The single speed rear wheel kit is still a very good option though. I have used a rear wheel kit to generate power through it and it's amazing how many LED lights can be run from it, even a little 12V TV can be powered quite easily by light pedalling!
